6 May 2010

In its endeavors to fight poverty through entrepreneurial philanthropic projects the elea Foundation for Ethics in Globalization will from now on be advised and actively supported by a “Comité de Patronage”* which was officially founded on 6 May 2010. Founding members Pascal Couchepin, former President of Switzerland, and Lord Griffiths of Fforestfach, Vice Chairman, Goldman Sachs International, committed themselves to the goals of elea and offered their assistance to the elea team.

After the first meeting of the Comité, Peter Wuffli, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees stated: “We are delighted and grateful that the elea idea enjoys the goodwill and backing of such outstanding personalities. Their commitment will help us to further develop our Foundation and to expand elea's footprint and impact.”

*) The members act on a strictly honorary basis and take no responsibility in the governance of the Foundation.

The elea Foundation's mission is to give people living on less than USD 2 a day access to the opportunities of globalization, and thereby contribute to improving their living standards.
